The Birmingham Committee on Foreign Relations is classified as a public charity under internal revenue code (IRC) Section 509 (a)(2) and exempt from federal income tax under IRC Section 501(c)(3). Donors can deduct contributions made to BCFR under IRC Section 170. The BCFR is also qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers, and gifts. Generous donations allow BCFR to ensure all Birmingham citizens--especially K-12 students, college students, and young professionals--are engaged in and educated on foreign affairs.
