Young Leader Sarabeth Wendt and YLI Program Director George Paik
Sarabeth is a student at Samford University and was one of two selected Young Leaders sent by the Birmingham Committee on Foreign Relations to D.C. for the second annual Young Leaders Initiative. Sarabeth is involved in the Samford Model United Nations, Amnesty International, and the Samford International Club. She is studying international relations with an Arabic minor.
Young Leader Joseph Forcherio with YLI Program Director George Paik
Joseph studied at the University of Alabama where he majored in international studies and political science, with a minor in Russian. Joseph just completed an internship with the Office of United Nations Political Affairs with the Department of State. At UA, he was a language partner at the University of Alabama’s Center for Community-Based Partnerships where he assisted ESL students by acting as a language tutor, intercultural discussion facilitator, and cultural interpreter.
2019 Young Leaders enjoy “Dinner with a Diplomat” Ambassador (ret) Tony Wayne. Ambassador Wayne served as U.S. Ambassador to Mexico and Argentina, Deputy Ambassador in Afghanistan, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe.
